Meta Joutras
Lives and Works in Glen Arbor, MI

Meta comes from a long line of accomplished artists. It wasn’t until college at Indiana University, that she decided to take her own talents seriously graduating with a degree in Graphic Design with a major in Art History in 1976. Upon graduating she worked for a boutique commercial printing company in the Chicago area until starting her family in 1979.

Years went by as she and her husband raised their three children before she picked up a colored pencil and soon in 2005 was a finalist in the thirteenth annual Colored Pencil Society’s International Competition having her worked displayed at the Art Institute of Chicago. It was about a year after receiving this award that she picked up an oil brush and started on one of the best adventures of her life, oil painting.

Meta and her husband have had a lake house on Big Glen Lake, Glen Arbor Michigan since 2000 which has given her the opportunity to be inspired by the surrounding landscape and the varieties of farm animals for the past twenty plus years.
